Halloween!

Well, I am very late in posting but want to try and keep this blog up and running at least every month!

October was a FUN month for us! We made leaf piles and got really dirty having lots of fun in them!

Nora learned to walk right around my birthday in late September so she LOVED her newfound sense of independence as a walker!

She has gone from crawling right before her birthday in August to a walker in late September...two months! It took Jack 6 months between crawling and walking. They are all so different!

Jack's preschool class visited the pumpkin patch and he loved it! We will have to go as a family next year when Nora is a bit older. He picked out a pumpkin and then our family went to the pumpkin patch and got another one to carve. It was our first year carving a pumpkin (I know, I know...we are behind, but who has time to carve pumpkins with really tiny ones around??) and the kids loved it. We asked them to tell us what the inside of the pumpkin might be like, and Jack said "pumpkin pie...not too far off! He said the seeds were slimy...ewww! Jack loved our jack-o-lantern and made sure we lit him up every night before (and after) Halloween!

We took Jack and Nora to our church's "trunk or treat" in the small town near our home. It was early so it was still light outside, and the cars were parked close together, which meant that they got to trick or treat all in a couple of blocks. Plus, it was super cold, so it also meant that we were only outside for a short time. Both kids got a lot of candy and Jack really got into the whole concept of trick or treating. He has already informed me that he wants to wear a mask next year! This year, Jack was "Old Dan Tucker", the character from the song (sort of like a cowboy) so he wore a pair of his own khakis, a "Dan Tucker" shirt which was a hand-me-down from a friend, a pair of cowboy boots that I picked up at the consignment sale for $3, a corduroy vest made from some scrap fabric I have had from making his overalls 2 years ago, and a cowboy hat (this was new!!) and he looked precious! I love putting costumes together like this!

Nora was a bumblebee, complete with her patent leather Mary Janes, and she was equally precious and probably the warmest in our family! She looked so cute waddling around with her wings and stinger! LeGrande said she had a death grip on her candy bucket! She figured out really fast that she was getting good stuff in there and it was hers! How funny she is! It is so much fun to have two kids who are more like toddlers/preschoolers and enjoy the same thing. I loved my babies, but I LOVE this "older kid" stage a lot, and I think it's only going to keep getting sweeter!
