Here's a backwards glance at some of the projects we've been working on. If you go to this link and look back, you'll see the dining and living room from now to before! What were once two rooms went to one big one with a hole in the wall, to a handcrafted archway to now...I am in constant amazement of what my husband can do, and I hope Jack wants to be just like Daddy!
Since I last posted a project update, LeGrande has been hard at work putting up crown moulding in both rooms and creating a plate rail in the dining room. He designed it himself! It will truly hold plates and gives an elegant look to the room. Here's a look before he primed it.

Once the woodwork was up, he filled nailholes, sanded, and primed the raw wood.
The next step was painting the ceiling, and last night, LeGrande put the first coat of paint on the plate rail and walls. The room looks amazing! A touch of color really begins to make it look finished!

What's next? Well, once the painting is finished, he'll rent a sander and go to work on the solid oak floors. The floors will be stained and coated with 4 coats of polyurethane (pregnant mommies have to exit the house during that stage due to strong fumes, so it looks like we'll be moving to casa del in-laws for a few nights) and then we'll put up finishing touches like blinds, curtains, and light fixtures...and then we'll have a living and dining room that we can begin to use! Keep watching this site for more photos of the project!
