Creatures of God

It has been really exciting to see how Jack's faith is growing these days. His current favorite song is "All Creatures of Our God and King" and we listen to it over and over in the car. The version we have is by Fernando Ortega. It's beautiful and upbeat and includes the doxology as the last verse.

Jack sings it all the time. And loudly! There are no rocks vying to cry out with him around. I love that he loves to sing and hope he always does. It keeps a song on my lips as well!

I also have to sing this to Jack at night before we go to bed. He'd love for me to sing a whole repertoire of songs for him but we limit it to 2 so he will go to sleep, or at least sing himself to sleep! It's so cute to hear. Sometimes he asks me about the verses in the songs we are singing. In "Creatures of God", as he likes to call it, there is a verse that says,

"And all ye men of tender heart,
Forgiving others, take your part.
Oh sing, ye, Hallelujah!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,
Praise God and on Him cast your care,
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!"

Jack asked me the other day what it meant to cast your care, and I explained to him that it meant to tell God what you were worried about and give those worries to Him so He could comfort you and give you peace. I explained to him that when it storms and he is scared of the thunder, that he can cast his cares on God and tell him he was scared. He seemed to really understand this. (Thunder is a BIG deal for him right now). One evening shortly thereafter, it stormed, and I went in to him. He was crying and he said he was going to cast his cares on Jesus so he would feel better. It about opened up my floodgates! Jack really did have peace after that and was able to go to sleep. We are so thankful that he is seeing answers to his prayers and beginning a relationship with God at the age of three!
